Membership Options?
This will be my first costume con - is there a 1 day admission option for bringing someone local for just 1 day?

Looking for roomies!
My friend and I are looking for roomies for CC28. We do not have a room yet, and would prefer to stay at the Hilton City Center. We are two non-smoking thirty-something females, and are looking for a non-smoking room, women only. We can either book a room (the hotel said there are some still available) or jump in if you already have a room. We don't mind sharing a double bed.

We won't have a lot of luggage, maybe one or two simple costumes each, and we are very neat. Our plan is to arrive late Thursday night and leave on Sunday.

Please contact me at cuprysa at yahoo dot com if interested and put COSTUME CON in the subject line, I get a lot of spam :) Thank you for reading!

Today in Spy History

Today, on October 15th, 1917
Dutch spy H21, also known as
Mata Hari, is executed in Paris by a 12-man firing squad. The dancer, born Gertrude Zelle, had slept with a number of high-ranking military officers from around the world and passed secrets along to the German high command. After death, her body is given to the University of Paris medical school for dissection.

A CC28 Field Trip

Over on CC26's Yahoo Staff Group, one of the staff mentioned American Science and Surplus. http://www.sciplus.com/ American Science and Surplus, or AmSci, as many locals call it, has been in Milwaukee since about 1981. It is an off shoot of Edmund Scientific. They have two stores in Chicagoland, but the Milwaukee store is bigger than them. That means they get the dregs of their warehouse, and items that never make into the catalog, or to their website. For many years, it has been the go to place for anyone looking for odd bits that might work for something. Or if they just want something odd and fun.

To sweeten the pot, it is located in a strip mall that also has a store with comics, gaming stuff, and anime stuff.
